The aftermath

Now that I finally have access to our computer I can post some "aftermath" photos. They're actually not as dramatic as I originally thought they were. We finally got power back last week after being without for 10 days. We had stayed at Shawn's parent's house in the meantime and finally returned to our house last weekend. It was great that we had Shawn's parent's house to go to (thank you for your hospitality!), but it sure is nice to be home... even despite the upheaval! Today we are getting the roof replaced... and somehow Jaxson is napping through it! Here are a few photos of the chaos:
The side of the house that got the worst of it
The other side
Just a sample of the water damage to the ceiling (it's like that all over the family room and kitchen)
Our ghetto-fab clothes line
This is how you spend evenings with no power... a killer game of Jenga (and that was with both of us drinking wine... another thing that doesn't require electricity!)
Jenga!
Our lovely new kitchen

It was so humid right after the storm (like an African rainforest) we could barely get the Coleman stove to work. I had to work my "many years of camping experience" magic on it... Shawn gave up after a while. Notice the beverage of choice...

Hanging out in the front yard yesterday... Jaxson's new thing is to crawl up on me and attack! Notice the patched roof in the background... all of our neighbors were hit hard too. We think it was mainly the fault of the builder because whole sections of other homes in the neighborhood weren't touched.

Happy boy!

It's great to see the photos and get a better sense of what it was all like! Hmmmm... wine, jenga, candles... sounds fun to me! Y'all should make it an annual event! Jaxson is adorable in those last few pictures. Thanks for sharing!!
