Doctor Appt. Update

I've been meaning to write this for a while, I was just recovering last week from Jaxson's party! Jaxson had his one year check up and shots last Tuesday and it went well, except that he'd lost 8 oz! He weighed 19lb 13 oz and just the week before he weighed in at about 20 lb 6 oz (with clothes on)... so I freaked out a little. It's the first time he ever has lost weight. I think it was because of the diarrhea, (which he had for a month... but it's now cleared up YAY!) but could also be that he needs to eat more. I've started feeding him more at each solids feeding (3 times a day) and I'm still nursing him 4 times a day. Hopefully that will help. We have another weigh-in this Wednesday to make sure he's back to gaining weight.

Also, this Tuesday we have an appointment with ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) to do another developmental evaluation and also assess his eating habits. Jaxson seems to have acquired some "texture issues" with in-between solids. He does great with purees and hard stuff like cheerios, but anything mushy or lumpy makes him throw up. (also not good for the weight gain) If needed they can provide therapists to help him with those issues. I'm definitely ready to start feeding him more variety!

This Thursday we meet with Dr. Hittner, the pediatric eye doctor for our one year follow-up and to check for strabismus (lazy eye). Hopefully that will go well! Busy week ahead!

Below is a video of Jaxson showing off his "talking" and first word: book. He can identify various items (lights, books, chimpanzee, ball) and he tries to say "book" but it mostly comes out as "ook" or just "Guh" like he says here. When he points to his left it's because the books are in the other room to his left! Smart boy!

Jaxson is so stinkin cute in that video. I pray that his next appt brings good news and he starts gaining his weight back and that they think it was more or less related to his tummy problems.

It was so nice talking with you yesterday. Let's stay in contact! Take care.
