Visiting Great Friends

Our first stop in Colorado was to visit an old childhood friend of mine in Lafayette (just outside Denver). Matt Ringer has a wonderful wife Heidi and 2 beautiful daughters, roughly Jaxson and Tyson's ages. We spent the day with them first going to a cool restaurant at the Rocky Mountain Airport (the small local one) where we watched the planes come and go. Then while the kiddos napped, we took a great (and very difficult due to the altitude) run with Matt, and finally shopped and had dinner in Boulder. Unfortunately the only pictures I got were from the airport, maybe because we were having so much fun and busy running around after children!

We were lucky enough to catch a fire fighting tanker plane take off...

... and then land a while later. Either there was a fire somewhere or it was a training flight

We caught some excitement at the airport as a small private plane almost crash-landed. The fire engines were ready and waiting...

Shawn and Matt ready for the crash landing... apparently the pilot's landing gear wouldn't go down, but eventually he got it to work. It was pretty exciting there for a while!
