That's how many miles we drove on our great Griswald adventure to Colorado! With a 2.9 year-old and a 7 month old! Someone told us we were brave, I think we were a little crazy. It was a fun trip despite the hours of driving (20 there, 20 back). Here are a few pictures from our first 2 days:

Packed up and ready to go!

The first night: Amarillo Texas. The obligatory stop at The Big Texan, home of the "Free 72 oz steak"... Jaxson LOVED their bull out front. He would have made us hook it up to our car and tow it to Colorado if he had his way!

The place is a tourist trap in every sense of the word... from the overpriced, mediocre food to the giant rocking chair... but it was a fun once-in-a-lifetime (literally) experience

The main dining room... you can't really see the table up front where 72-oz steak eaters sit... it's right underneath the 6 red stopclocks. (challengers are timed... they have an hour to eat a 72-oz steak, a loaded potato, 3 shrimp, a salad, and a roll)

We didn't try...

The cool caboose at the visitor's center in Raton, NM... our favorite lunch spot!

Jaxson still asks if we can see the caboose... I don't think he understands that it's 800 miles away

Other cool railroad wagons... Jaxson was in heaven!

Sooooo happy to stretch out after a long drive!

Having a picnic: something you don't do often in Houston in the summer...
