Poudre Canyon

On our way from Ft. Collins to Steamboat Springs, we went through the Cache la Poudre River Canyon. It was a beautiful drive, thus the "scenic" designation. We took our time, stopping along the way to skip rocks in the river, hike, and have a picnic.

The Cache la Poudre name comes from some French Canadian trappers who "hid their gunpowder" along the river banks during a blizzard in the 1800s to lighten their load. Who knows if they ever found it...

No rockclimbing?!

Cool geology (love that stuff)

Getting packed up for a hike

Ready to go!

We would LOVE for this to be in our backyard!!

This hike was a little harder than we expected... the drop-off was pretty scary

The sign in the background (up to the top... we didn't go that far) said "caution: primitive trail" We thought we WERE on the primitive trail!

Happy Hiker

More cool rocks
